4Good bike, but terrible shipping, packaging, and instructions
By A4Q96
My in-laws ordered this bike for my daughter's 5th birthday after much research and all of us desiring not to spend $200+ on a first bike at a speciality bike shop. The good news - this is a good bike she likes to ride. It's very attactive (her favorite part are the tassels on the handle bars, LOL) and decently built. She cruises around it at the park sometimes for an hour before growing bored.Bad news1. Worst thing was the shipping/packaging - it showed up with a lot of dents and rips in the box like it had been in a battle. The parts were packaged haphazardly and the various fasteners poorly separated and labeled. And, on top of that, the manual is a generic Schwinn manual that you have to leaf through to find the parts relevant to the bike you have bought. There are three different sets of instructions for three types of handlebars, for example, and you have to pay attention to detail to know that you are reading the instructions for the right type. It does make a difference in how you put it together.2. It took some time to assemble and adjust as a result of #1, and had I not put together bikes before and maintained my own, I would have been a little befuddled at some of the instructions/guidance.3. I would say that it is a little "heavy handed" and not the easiest to ride/maneuver. The brakes and pedals have a less than smooth operation that makes them tough for a girl who is just learning to ride. She has been on another bike or two and says her bike is harder to pedal. Not a big deal, as she still has plenty of growing to do on it, and I guess she gets a good workout :)All in all, worth the purchase, but the assembly time and confusing instructions negated some of the cost savings vs. a more expensive bike.

1Very bad packaging
By Shiva Prasad B. Kolli
Bike came with very bad packaging. The front while does not fit into the front fork. There are no assembly instructions and the product booklet is not specific to this bike. The accessories are very cheap. It is just a very heavy, bulky bike with very bad packaging.

1Please heed the warnings in the 1 star reviews!
By Jeep Loving Mama
I normally take the negative reviews into consideration but always look at how many 5 star vs 1 star reviews there are to make a descion on a product, but this is truly a 1 star product!1. It arrived broken, missing pieces and scratched as if it were a used bike. The seat had a crack in the vinyl and the front wheel was bent terribly. It was missing a bracket for one of the training wheels and that was because of the horrible packaging! It arrived with a gaping hole in the side and corner with half of the handle bar sticking out.2. We managed to get the bike together and noticed that the handle bars would not tighten down all the way and if an adult pushed forward on them, they would fall forward a bit. We tightened them the absolute tightest we could and our daughter could not budge them, so we figured it was ok. Well, she just came in with torn pants and shirt sporting the first battle scars of summer because the bars completely fell forward to the wheel!3. I am so shocked that Schwinn would offer such a piece of junk and we will never buy from Schwinn again. Now, to the benifit to the Schwinn name, I do understand that they were bought out in the last few years and the new company has consistantly produced a poor product, but this bike should be recalled! Hopefully I can get Amazon to take it back without the original box. If not, it is going to the dump, it's that bad!Goodbye $90!
