Diamondback 2013 Youth Octane Mountain Bike (24-Inch Wheels, Copper)
Product Description
When a little boy gets too big for a 20" wheeled bike the Octane 24 is the way to go. The heat treated aluminum frame will hold up to the trials of childhood while the 40mm suspension fork will make heading down the dirt paths much more fun. Add in both front and rear twist shifters and he will have lots of gears to experiment with. The linear pull front and rear brakes will make stopping easy. Put your little one on a Octane 24 and watch in amazement as he grows - both on and off the bike.

My son bought this for himself for his eight birthday -- his first big purchase! No regrets. Bike arrived in a few short days. Packaging was sound, as you'd expect. Assembly was simple. Not sure what other reviewers were doing, but I had this thing together in 30-minutes... just in time to ride it 1.0-miles to deliver it to my boy when school let out. I have not yet adjusted/tuned derailleurs, but we've ridden ~5-miles on the factory tune. Factory tune's decent, but, w/ a few minor adjustments, it'll be right as rain. One problem I had on the first ride is I shifted the front derailleur too far and pushed the chain up off the gear. It wedged between the gear and the plastic guard that mounts to the gear (presumably to protect long pants). The plastic guard should have been installed with 4 screws, but it was missing one... so the chain got wedged in there pretty good... and the roadside repair cost me a nail -- oops! When I got home, I just removed that plastic guard. If I can find a small machine screw, I may install... but I'm not too worried about it. Bike works great. The boy loves it. No regrets.

Bike was delivered with all parts and fairly easy to set up. There were a few scratches and dings but overall everything worked great. My son loves the bike and is easily adapting to using hand breaks.
