Please do not purchase these training wheels

We are long time Amazon shoppers and love it, but these are the worst training wheels I've ever bought. My 6 year old daughter fell over after 15 seconds of riding because the training wheels just buckled (bent). Enough said.

Schwinn Training Wheels 16" - 20"These beauties arrived yesterday, heavy duty 3/16" plated steel, yes, they will rust over time, and 3/8" axles. The braces are turned at the edges for added strength and reinforced with rivited angled braces. The wheels should fail before the braces. Speaking of the wheels, the rubber tire material has that very unusual smell that kids solid bike tires seem to have these days. Its like, a very strong, funky, room freshener, best kept outside. These can't be the poor quality training wheels others have spoken of. These training wheels would require several hundred pounds of direct down force to cause the brace to collapse, if assembled and installed correctly.

These started to bend the first time we used them, and they aren't going to last long. I just hope my kid learns before the things become completely unuseable.

Worth the wait

I have twin grand sons. I purchased the model from last year after checking all the facts.I had to wait months to get this years model and the bikes were different it was good not bad. They are the best you can get in construction, stability, padding & safety. They also cost less than the lesser bikes.

The actual bike is great quality. Only one issue. The directions that Polaris send are for all of the bikes. I didn't even see this bike in the instructions. It is very difficult to put a bike together with no instructions.

Luck of the draw, and odds aren't good

Went through two of these, then gave up and bought another brand.On the first bike, the rear wheel would not turn freely. The brake calipers were clear, so it was something internal to the rear hub, which comes factory-assembled. The chain guard was very flimsy and could not be adjusted so that it would clear the chain.Exchanged for another. On the second bike, the plates with the slots to accept the front wheel were welded too close together on the front forks, and the wheel would not go on.I now see reviews on the Toys R Us website of others experiencing these same problems.I really would have liked this bike to have worked out, my little girl loves purple. Maybe you'll get one without problems. If not, multiple returns are a hassle. I went 0 for 2 on this bike. Avigo quality, at least for this model, is poor.

Excellent! My son LOVES it!

We purchased this bike as a Christmas gift for my 4-year-old son. He absolutely loves this bike. My husband assembled the bike very easily with out any problems. The handle bars have a cool Spiderman light that lights up when you push a button. Seems to be of good quality (so far). My son was able to jump right on and start peddling. There is plenty of room for him to grow into this bike, he will be using it for a long time. We are very happy with our purchase.

Good Bike

This was easy to assemble. I'm not crazy about the light up plate on the front because the rider has to continually press the button to keep it on. Would an on/off switch be too much to ask. This is for a new rider and he doesn't need the distraction of trying to hold down the button. The light also isn't very bright in the day time and who's going to let their 4 year old ride his bike at night? Just seems kind of pointless. I was glad to see that the "webbing" on the frame is plastic and semi flexible. It aslo can be removed. Overall, good bike.

Good bike

My daughter asked for a bike for Christmas and as she is always growing we didn't want to buy her an expensive one. This bike fit the bill nicely. It seems to be well made, she has ridden it many times and has not broken it yet. It was very easy to put together (really did only take about 15 minutes). She is happy, we are happy, and when she does break it we will not feel as if we have been cheated.
