The hunt for a purple bike

We purchased this bike for our 5 year old daughter this Christmas. It was a last minute decision and it arrived quickly as promised (prime shipping) but once we opened the box it looked as if it had been returned. Upon putting it together I am certain this was the case, it was difficult. My husband and I are pretty handy and build lots of things. This was our first bike put together project but far from our first project. The bars that the front wheel secures to were too close together and had to be pried apart (by rubber mallet.) My husband was finally managed to get the wheel to fit so we moved on (with some relief, there are only 5 more days until Christmas.) Once we got to the handle bar assembly, there were more issues with fitting everything together. We were able to get it all together in the end but I would not recommend this to somebody who planning on just throwing a bike together with no troubles.If I'd had more time I probably would have sent it back. However, with the Christmas crunch I wasn't about to try to hunt down and ship another purple bicycle.Aside from the assembly the bike is pretty. The purple is a nice color and the white paint is glittery (my daughter will love that.) We purchased after market pom poms because I wanted something fluffy but the ones that come with it are pretty, just more streamers style than pom pom. Also, we purchased after market training wheels which I would suggest. The metal seems fine and sturdy on the ones that come with it but the plastic on the wheels probably wont last long on concrete or other rough surfaces. Lastly, I left off the padding because they looked cheap and we added a basket to the front.To Summarize, its a pretty purple bike and I had a hard time finding one when I was looking. But, it takes some strength to get it together and if you buy any upgrades you could probably have bought something a little nicer to start with that wouldn't be such a hassle to get together.

daughter loves it

Some other reviewers mentioned that it was difficult to assemble. I found it to be WAY easier than i expected. The instructions are generic for ALL of their bikes (from road to mountain) so there are no specific instructions included for this model. However, if you've ever done ANY repairs or maintenance on a bike, you should be able to figure it out. The reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is that the rear tire (which came preassembled) has a bulge in it. I presume the tube has a defect. Since my 6 year old daughter isn't doing any high speed riding with this thing yet, I'll wait for it to pop or at least get worse before i bother to replace it.

Just what we were looking for

The bike is perfect for our five year old daughter. She loves the colors, and everything has worked fine. We had one problem with the training wheels, but on first mention, the company immediately shipped us a new pair right away, no questions asked. Great product, fabulous service.
