Defect caused inner tube puncture

My 6 yo was very excited to have his new bike delivered (albeit a day late.) Shortly after it was assembled the rear tire was flat. Obviously this was disappointing, but rather than complain, return, etc, we replaced the inner tube so he could use it this weekend. After ten minutes of use it was flat again. Ultimately we found a defect on the inner surface of the rim where the spokes insert. We ground this down and again replaced the inner tube.With some much time spent on repair and so little on utilization it is hard to adequately review it, but this is how our experience with the bike has begun.
