Great product

I was a little hesitant to buy this, because my son is almost 6 and has ridden his 2-wheel bike a couple times. The problem is he is not steady on the bike yet, and his bike is a 16" so it's a lot of bike to handle without training wheels.This bike appeared on the lightning deals for half off, so I jumped on it. He LOVES it. He is zooming all over the driveway, and it is much easier for him to put his feet down to catch himself when he wobbles without having pedals in the way. I will say he is a little big for this bike, but it doesn't seem to bother him. The seat adjusts up which helps, but seems to slide down a bit the more he rides it. The little platform where he can put his feet is a great addition. He seems to use it naturally without us telling him to.Im very pleased with this bike for the price, he will get plenty of use out of it, and his 3-year-old little brother can't wait until he's done with it so he can get his hands on it!! I'd say this is sized well for 3 to 5 year olds, but my 6-year-old is able to use it and is building up his confidence and balance. I'm sure he will be riding his 2 wheeler much faster with this practice.It comes with very few parts to assemble, and it was not too difficult. It would have helped to have clearer instructions (they are mostly picture instructions), but we figured it out in less than 20 minutes.

Good Quality For The Price

We had been looking at balance bike options for our 34 month old twins when this popped up at under $50 during the holiday sales. None of the other bikes under consideration could compete with that price and we had been pleased with the quality and customer service of a Schwinn we had purchased last year for their mother. So, despite there being no reviews posted yet, at the time, we took a chance on these. After one day we can safely say the kids are both ecstatic and have already learned important skills like how to lift the bike when they fall and how to turn; things that often seem overwhelming when kids learn how to perform all the skills of riding at once.We fully expected the wheels and tires to be plastic as that seems to be standard for balance bikes. It helps keep the price point down and also saves the parents having to inflate and repair tube tires. That said, as the kids grow and get good at balancing/gliding, I may look for some 12-inch wheels so that they can get used to the feel of bike tires before they transition to a bike with pedals. The frame is solid and it's a nice design. We especially like that there is a place for them to place their feet when they glide. Some balance bikes don't have this. The brake is a bit superfluous for now, but we're curious to see if it will come in handy once they start going fast and gliding.GOTCHAS (that resulted in the loss of a star)- The assembly instructions are horrible. There is no parts identification list and the illustration does little to help differentiate between the clamps, nor does it help the assembler know which way the washers go on the fork. I suspect this may have lead to some of the problems others have reported as they may have installed the parts incorrectly due to the lack of clear instruction.- As others have noted, you'll need a rubber mallet or some tool and a towel to get the seat clamp on without marring anything. One thing to notice is that one side of the clamp does have a lip. It's almost impossible to put the clamp on the seat post if you try to put that end on first. The lip is small enough that I wonder how many people don't even notice it and force it on in that direction.- You'll need a 1/2" wrench (fork/handlebar clamp) and 3/16" allen wrench (seat clamp) to assemble this. Something that I didn't see noted here or on the box, or in the assembly instructions.Once you get past these gotchas, you can assemble the bike in under 10 minutes.

Assembly Help Instructions

Not that easy to assemble. See reviews on other toy store websites.The seat clamp (the one that requires allen wrench)does not fit easily over frame bar. The frame was either built slightly too big or the clamp too small.I finally managed to get in on with the use of wd-40 and spreading the clamp more apart with a wrench with one hand while hammering it onto the frame with the other. It did chip the pain but this part is covered by the clamp anyway.After that the seat was fixed in place. The screws for both the seat and the handle bar require way too much force to secure for a kids bike.Otherwise the bike seems fine. The plastic wheels slide on ground without rotating even if the brake is engaged. Probably doesn't matter since the kids use their feet to stop.
