4Nice bike
By kittiggy
This bike is very light and attractive. It is a girls bike but since I am a very short female the womans version is too big for me. It rides smooth and quite. The breaks could be a little better and I just wish that the handle bars could be adjusted upward a little. But other than that, the bike was worth the money. Good buy.

5Giordano Libero 1.6 Girls Junior Road Bike a nice quality ride....
By EastTexasRider
...for a young female aspiring road cyclist !I say 'female' as the white & pink color scheme & flowery bar tape strongly suggest it to be a girls bike !The quality of this bike is actually higher than the price, making it a very good value. There are precious few choices in bikes of this category, "Junior Road Bikes" that have a 24" wheel size - which is perfect for all those 'under 5' tall' boys or girls. I suppose that would be kids 8-12, generally speaking.(All too often, even professional LBS personnel try to fit little kids to small frame & 650c or 700c adult wheel size road bikes - the dimensions like crank length, handlebar width are all too large....resulting in a discouraged child who won't ride a bike that doesn't fit...)Our 8 year old measures 54" tall, 4'6", with an inseam of 24" - she just squeeks by the standover highth of 25.5"We also have the slightly larger, Boys frame Giordano Libero 1.6 Junior road bike - the bikes are near identical, the main difference being the frame size - this bike is 15" (37cm) tall, and the Boys model is 17.5" (44cm) tall(measured from center of crank to top of seatube)And the paint scheme - the Boys model being Red & White. One thing to consider is when they shortened the frame on this junior bike, they didn't shorten the 'top tube' - from center seat post to center of head tube - so the 'reach' may be a bit long for your child. We made two minor mods to help shorten the reach for our little one:- Bought a shorter reach stem - the HL Corp makes a 50 or 60 mm stem that brought the bars over an inch closer (amazon carries this shorter stem)- Added accessory, inboard brake levers on the 'flat portion' of the bars, on either side of the stem. This required the help of our LBS - local bike shop - and they were installed in one visit for around forty dollars - not a bad price considering they gave our daughter confidence to be able to brake easily. The stock brake lever / gear shifters work perfect, and while she could reach them fine, she lacked the hand strength to grasp & operate them effectively. This bike has the 16 speed shimano sora type gears & equipment - front & rear derailuers, chain & cassette (gear cluster), plus two front chainrings to make road riding easier & faster for our children compared to the heavy mountain bikes that are typically offered as 'kids bikes'.In fact, this bike weighs around 23#, which is a good 10-12# lighter than those 24" wheel heavy kids mountain bikes. With the lower profile road type tires it comes with, our kids can go faster than ever. If you will stick to rough streets or dirt back roads, the stock tires here are perfect. The 24" aluminum rims have an 'aero profile' & are light & precise, with quick release feature, of course. If you will mainly ride smooth city pavement or highways, look to upgrade these tires to the Kenda racing wheelchair tires in 24x1" (25c) for an effective performance boost. In fact, our 8 year old averaged 12.5 mph over a 25 mile 'T-Shirt Ride' in Tyler, TX just last month on this bike.Pretty fast little legs - the bike & the kid were well matched !For a bit more detail, you can look up my review for the near identical Giordano Libero 1.6 Boys Frame model bike, under my name EastTexasRider. Also see my blog affordableroadbikereview (dot) wordpress (dot) com for other Junior bike reviews
