My 3 year old son has been riding on the skuut bike for 1 year but had to get a new bike due to cracking. Since I knew he was going to be riding a real bike pretty soon and I didn't want to spend too much money on another balance bike, I opted for this one. Within the first minute his legs were scratched from the sand paper that was on the footrest. I had to cover the sand paper with some tape to make it ridable. My son is really good on other balance bikes, but this one seems awkward for him. I realized it's because the handle bar is much taller and further away from the seat than the ones he is used to riding, so this may not be a problem for taller kids. The material is really cheap-looking, and the engineering seems to have cut some corners. The handlebar goes out of alignment easily (when the bike gets knocked over) and the seat lock bolt needs to be cranked extra tight to keep its position. You get what you pay for.

OK so the concept is valid. Kids can quickly learn how to ride a bike by using a gliding technique. But you don't have to buy a special bike to train. Just take the pedals off a regular bike. And when they have figured out how to balance (a few hours later) put the pedals back on. And they are off. [...]
