The Mongoose Strike boy's BMX bike is an ideal ride for kids who want to zip around the neighborhood in style. The bike is equipped with a handcrafted high-tensile steel frame and fork, giving riders good control whether riding on trails or the street. The bike also includes sure-stopping front and rear caliper brakes and extra-wide two-inch tires that roll smoothly over both pavement and grass. And thanks to the adjustable quick-release seat, the bike fits boys of several different heights. Other details include two-piece freestyle bars with an alloy four-bolt stem, 48-spoke alloy rims, a one-piece crank with a 44t steel cutout chain wheel, and two front axle pegs. The bike, which is designed for kids between the ages of 6 and 12, carries a one-year warranty.

Low point for Amazon - UPDATE - nice recovery!

BE CAREFUL - if you order this bike you'll probably get a yellow bike, even if you order green. But Amazon impressed me, see below.ORIGINAL REVIEW - Read the reviews. Ordered the bike anyway. The order says "green" but the bike is yellow. Really? Today the review header says yellow, but the order says green. The 9 year-old wants green. Bummer, just like the other reviews ... that said "wrong color". Is this a fulfillment issue or an order system issue? My bet is a glitch in Amazon ordering system.Oh, an another point, it looks "repacked" (missing wrappers, etc). Maybe someone else ordered green and received / returned this yellow one. I love Amazon. But after 10+ years I finally got a lemon (haha). Lesson learned? Trust the reviewers.BTW: Of course the packaging had holes. The axle guards were rolling around in the bottom of the box. And while it clearly says "Don't lay flat" it was laying flat on my porch. Thanks FedEx. On time and damaged.UPDATE - Wow. About 8 hours after posting this review I received a detailed response from Amazon customer service. They apologized, offered a return with free shipping or a credit. They also said they'd bring it up with FedEx. I am impressed - nice recovery by Amazon so I raised the stars from 2 to 4. ONE IMPORTANT POINT - if you order a Green bike you will probably receive a Yellow bike. So be prepared. And remember, my bike was repacked (poorly) with a couple of minor scratches. But Amazon was really responsive and offered to make it right. BTW: the other two items I ordered this week (yes I use them alot) arrived perfect. Thanks, Amazon.Oh yeah, I took the credit and taped a new $20 bill to the seat. The kid liked that color green!!

Great Bike!

The Mongoose Strike Bike came well packaged and partially assembled. The bike was out being ridden 30 minutes after it arrived. Assembly was a breeze.At the end of the day I adjusted the brakes, the seat and the handlebars to my where my son wanted them and then gave the bike a once over checking all of the fasteners installed by the factory. They were all fine.The bike has a very nice finish and rides well. A really nice bike for the price.

It's right on the border line for value. For another $50-100, the better bikes have superior brakes, quick release seat posts, lighter weight, etc. This particular brake design is pretty cheap and will wear out one pad faster than the other for sure. Not so easy to adjust either. Nevertheless, you get decent value for this price and this is probably just an interim bike that a boy will use for a few years. Some of the included upgrades are the fancy tires, the crossbar pad, chain guard, fancy paint job, and foot pegs.
