2013 Diamondback Nitrus BMX Bike (Red, 24-Inch Wheels)

The reason I picked the Diamondback Nitrus 24 is because I am a big guy (6 foot 300 lbs) and I wanted something that would suite the BMX tracks/parks with my daughters and I didn't want a mountain bike. I have always loved the Diamondback brand because of their quality and affordability and you get both in this bike. The frame is aluminum so it’s light and sturdy and the tires are a comp lll style so they are nice and rugged. The bike was very easy to put together with just some Allen wrenches and sockets/ratchets, took probably 30-40 minutes tops. I choose this bike over the Diamondback Session 24 because of the thicker welding and the thicker tubing for my size and weight and I like the fact that the top tube, down tube and head tube are all welded together as one solid piece. I also prefer the handle bars of a lower style race bike then the higher handle bars of the session 24 and that the Nitrus 24 comes with alloy pedals NOT plastic. The Nitrus 24 easily supports my weight when rippin up the pavement or in the dirt with some jumps. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and it arrived a day earlier then the expected delivery date! There was a little bit of paint scuff on the crank but barely noticeable. I would highly recommend this bike to any big guys that are trying to get back in the BMX world and are on a budget or just enjoy messing around in the dirt. I have always stood by Diamondbacks since I raced them as a kid and even as an adult they are still an excellent bike brand.

My son loves it

This is a great size bike for our 50th percentile son who turned 6 right after we gave it to him, so he will be using this bike for several years. Several 20" bikes were too tall for him to confidently touch the ground, but this fits him great. The bike is a more pleasant green than in the picture.Assembly was straight forward. My bike had a few issues that I didnt notice right away but was able to fix before we gave it to our son at christmas. Both wheels have a bit of a hop in them, the rear being more apparent, They were both true side to side. On inspection I found a stripped spoke nipple on the rear wheel. The rear wheel hub was also over tightened, when I spun the wheel you could see it slow. To properly adjust this I would have had to buy a bike wrench, but in the end I just took the rear wheel to the local bike shop. They replaced the spoke nipple, trued the wheel a bit better, and adjusted the wheel hub tightness all for $15 (almost the cost of buying the bike wrench).When i put the rear wheel back on i got the chain tight, but due to slight sprocket alignment (quality) there was a audible and palpable click when peddling. Loosening the chain slightly is all it took.If you average out the price and value I think its still a great bargain. The bike and components all appear to be made in china. As summer rolls around he'll ride it much more. If more issues arise I will update my review.

Good bike

The bike is a good bike for the money. Bought for son for Christmas, easy to assemble, reasonable instructions. Tools included in package, nice. A little large for my six year old, but he will grow into it soon enough. Overall the bike met all my expectations. I would purchase again without hesitation.

Decent quality bike

We bought this bike for our 3yr old this past holiday. I was told a 12in bike is perfect for his age which I agree with. He sits well on it and its the perfect size for his legs. Overall, the construction is durable and of decent quality. There were a few pieces that were scratched, wheels don't freely spin as well as they should...a little sticky...and the chain maybe seems a bit tight...makes a somewhat strange noise like one link is just grazing something on the chain guard. I wish it maybe had pads on the main bar and the handle bar support but not a big deal. The directions are awful. Its a book that shows general assembly for a dozen or so various bikes. Luckily I'm pretty handy and familiar with bikes so I was able to figure it out. We didn't want some cheap-o bike with silly cartoons on it. Overall, we're happy with it though since he'll outgrow it in a year or two at the most.
